In 1983 starts in Valenza
the shop Gemmological Shop Astucci,
It's starts from an idea of Mario e Antonina, the focus was to create a
reference shop to help who needed tailor made solutions in jewellery
field.
Slowly all the customers had understood that to show a fine jewelry of
high quality they should used a packaging as the same height as the
jewel.
It was the first half of the
1990s, and Made in Italy products and their production were typically
carried out in the Valencian area; it was almost a given that there were
no Chinese or foreign companies producing them.
For years, my parents relied on local artisans, growing together and
building a business that still exists today. Toward the end of the
1990s, thanks to globalization, the jewelry world changed, and with it,
the world of packaging. Previously, jewelry production was exclusively
in Italy, now it's outsourced to China, where costs are low and
production is higher. In 1996, I, Luca, son of Antonina and Mario,
joined the company. Initially, we followed the trend of the Chinese
market and directly imported cases for our shop and for customers who
wanted a customized line, both in terms of shape, color, interior, and
materials. However, what we've always made in Italy, in our workshop,
were counter trays, safe boxes, window displays, and display cases. We
had our own carpenter who would prepare the cases for us, and we'd cover
or finish them (if they were painted).
After 2010, the business changed again. There were many Chinese case
wholesalers selling in Italy and to our customers, so we gradually
decided
to abandon imported items and create what our customers wanted
ourselves, using our own quantities and expertise.
After the Covid period, many companies began to no longer want imported
items but instead looked for Italian manufacturers. Over the past two
years, we have become 100% self-sufficient. We purchase raw materials
and create the boxes, trays, displays, and display cases in-house. We
have expanded our case models, adding other intermediate models in
addition to the high-end jewelry line to meet customer needs. Quantities
remain flexible; our minimum order starts at 1 piece and increases.
What we want to convey to our customers is that turnover isn't
important; what matters is building a relationship of trust and respect
between us, allowing us to create a product that they like and enjoy
together.
We've recently added the option of 3D printing products, projects that
can't be created by hand. We collaborate with quality lacquerers to give
plastic cases or wooden display cases a gloss or matte finish, and we're
working with companies to create plexiglass jewelry cases.
Over the years, we've collaborated with various luxury brands in Valenza
and beyond, but we generally prefer not to use our clients' names for
advertising purposes; we prefer to let our quality, services, and
products speak for themselves. |
